equals…i don’t know!!! i have no words to describe! on tuesday night the hub and i drove out to irvine to meet brother and kd for a To Write Love On Her Arms conference and a performance by Noah (and Abby :) Gundersen. you may have read about these kids earlier. i skipped sewing class (hard decision!!!) but couldn’t have spent my time any better that evening. i’m going to refrain writing much about the night, but you can read brother’s post about it. sometimes words just aren’t enough. noah and abby blew my mind again (perfect set for a perfect night) and TWLOHA is doing some freakin’ amazing stuff. though a heavy and emotional night, it was one of those experiences that moves you above and beyond. i think i’ll stop on that note.
please take the time to see what jamie tworkoski and crew are doing!
on the picture below…
josselyn peterson reminded me of a collage project we did in high school for photography class. after looking at my pics from the night i thought i’d try a simple one for old times sake. thanks joss!
(jamie and danny weren’t on stage with noah and abby tho :))
went out for a bowling session last weekend. choice people always make things better. (sorry for those who didn’t get in this shot!!!)
jordan was one of my friends/acquaintances from dub dub cee back in ‘04 (wow was that really 5 years ago?)! wish i could have kept in touch with him. he’s one of those people that inspires and seems to be good at everything he touches (kaitlyn, do you concur?) i would hang with him and friends and the most memorable thing about the times together were the long boarding and jam sessions. the jam sessions knocked my socks off. this kid drummed like no one else. too good for his own good. he was so passionate and that’s what i hold on to the most in my mind. looks like he’s livin’ in brooklyn, ny now. pure lovely.

this month has been great! you may or may not have read earlier but i’m doin’ a lil cleanup this april.
the cleansing has been great.
the community has been great.
i’ve had some phenomenal (!!!) animal/animal by-product free (ok, i’ll say it, vegan :) meals thanks to good friends, good cookbooks, vegan family members, native foods, peta, and the net!
@the thompson’s this month, gardening has been a theme. this goes along with the cleansing! we’re aiming for more veggies less processed! so far, in our extremely tiny garden, we’ve managed to plant tomatoes, jalapeños, tomatillos (fresh salsa here we come!), green beans, eggplant, squash, lettuce, onions, garlic, and an amazing variety of herbs which are in the making. yes, that sounds a lot, but trust me, the garden is the size of…a hens pen…those are small right??!? anyways…really lookin’ forward to eating delicious homegrown goodness. there’s always something amazing about watching the progress of growth and then devouring the growth! YUMMM!
as far as community goes…exciting things!!!
the hubster and i have registered with YAP and hope to get more involved with projects in the san b area. we are also fortunate to be sponsoring a child from kenya through compassion international. but more on these two later!
we drank in the annual earth day festival at the camp/lab yesterday! i always anticipate this event! excellent food, music, exhibits, etc. we left with fantastic freebies and plants to add to our garden. oh! and we are now proud members of the surfrider foundation. gotta support surf (j insisted)!
today, i start volunteering @the discovery shop—a second hand store that donates 100% of their profits to the american cancer society. so stoked i am! i feel blessed to have the opportunity to volunteer there. the hard workin’ elderly ladies are quite precious. the shop has killer vintage earrings too. i think i’ll fit right in :).
RRR!
